The Battle Of The Titans: Galactus VS Thanos

Last Updated on July 10, 2021 by Neil Mackengie

Galactus is a cosmic entity that has the power to destroy worlds. He was first seen in Fantastic Four vol 1, issue #48 when he visited Earth and battled Thor. Thanos on the other hand is a Titan who was born with great strength and intelligence. His goal from an early age was to become one of the most powerful beings in existence by amassing all six infinity stones for himself which would make him all-powerful.

In the comics, Thanos first encountered Galactus in Silver Surfer vol. l (1987) #50 when he attempted to capture him and use his power to extinguish any life-form in the galaxy so as not to have competition or a challenge against himself. But this was all thwarted by Norrin Radd – also known as The Silver Surfer.

Galactus returns with an army of robots called Ultimates that battle Thanos on two occasions: once at Earth and again at Titan. In both instances, they were unable to defeat him even after badly injuring him twice during their battles. It is only until Thor came onto the scene did Thanos succumb due to injuries sustained from Mjolnir which made it impossible for him to heal himself.

Can Galactus beat Thanos?

The battle between these two cosmic beings has been going on for years. They both have the power to extinguish any life-form in the galaxy so as not to have competition or a challenge against themselves. But this was all thwarted by Norrin Radd – also known as The Silver Surfer. In an attempt to prove his superiority, Thanos took control of Earth’s entire population but it backfired when he found himself being defeated and escaping due to injuries sustained from Mjolnir which made it impossible for him to heal himself. With Thor’s help who had just arrived at Titan, they were able to take down their enemy once and for all despite Galactus’s inability to do it.

There are many similarities between Galactus and Thanos but both have a different power that they use to take over the world, Galactus can suck up any planet or galaxy in order to make more room for him on Earth because he has no competition while Thanos steals people’s souls so as not to be challenged by other life-forms. However, this all changed when Norrin Radd – also known as The Silver Surfer destroyed his plans of taking over Earth by flying into space without permission from Galactus which was punishable by death.

Was Thanos Afraid Of Galactus?

Galactus and Thanos are both very powerful beings that have been known to be on the same level of power. While Galactus is a big threat, he has one weakness: his hunger for planets can lead him into dangerous situations if other lifeforms who want their planet for themselves take advantage of it (which was what happened when Norrin Radd – also known as The Silver Surfer destroyed Galactus plans to take over Earth by flying into space without permission).

In Marvel Comics canon, Bruce Banner’s alter ego does manage to overpower cosmic entity Gah Lak Tus aka “Galactic Hunger” AKA Galactus, who appears to be invulnerable and unstoppable. Banner’s Hulk has defeated Galactus in the past (in Fantastic Four #166).
