How much weight can drywall hold? Drywall is a very versatile material. It can be used for many different things including but not limited to: ceiling, walls, and insulation. But how strong is it really? Well, the answer to that question depends on what type of drywall you have in your home. There are three main types of drywall:
1) Type X-lite – This has a sheathing paper or fiberglass mesh attached to one side which makes this type less likely to tear when screwing or nailing into it
2) Type Densite – This type does not use any additional support materials
3) Type Cement Board (or “Hardboard”) – This board does not use any additional support materials.
