Helicopters and airplanes are both types of aircraft that fly through the air. They are different in several ways, though. A helicopter has one main rotor blade and a tail rotor like this one while an airplane has two or more large wings to provide lift. Airplanes also have flaps on their wings that can be moved up or down during landing to aid with slowing down so they don’t crash into the ground too fast and helicopters do not have these flaps, but instead they can change the pitch of their blades as they rotate around which is what provides them with lift instead of just using wing surfaces for it as planes do.

Helicopters and airplanes are both capable of flight, but the two modes of transportation differ in a number of ways. Helicopters can take off and land vertically and fly forward whereas airplanes must take off and land horizontally. When it comes to speed, helicopters can reach speeds up to 300 miles per hour while an airplane’s maximum speed is about 600 miles per hour. Helicopters also have the ability to hover in one place because their rotor blades provide thrust as they spin around a central axis, whereas an airplane relies on airflow over its wings for lift. The key difference between these two vehicles is that helicopters use rotors that allow them to change direction quickly by tilting from side to side or spinning faster if needed, while fixe-dewing airplanes can only fly forward.

The main rotor is attached at one end to the top of an upright mast or tower called a “mast” (or more formally known as an “inverted Y-shaped frame”) and rotates in the same direction as the propeller rotation due to its shape; this is unlike other types of helicopters where there is no direct drive connection between these two components.

All these factors make helicopters better suited for military purposes as well as crop dusting and other agricultural activities where it may not always be possible for both vehicles to land safely on the ground.  -Helicopter pilots must keep track of altitude by looking at how high they are off the ground with respect to objects around them like trees or mountains. Airplane pilots don’t have to worry about that because they can always see the ground from their cockpit windows.
