Differences Between Civilization 5 and 6

Last Updated on March 19, 2022 by QCity Editorial Stuff

Civilization 5 and 6 are the latest installments of this strategy game franchise. This is a quick post where I explore some of the differences between these two games, mainly focusing on changes in graphics, gameplay features, and new civilizations available for play.  Since Civilization 5 was released back in 2010, it has been played by over 20 million people worldwide – with players still logging into their accounts to find out what’s new each day. However, now that Civilization 6 has launched with its own set of improvements and changes to the game mechanics, many gamers are starting to ask themselves whether they should trade up from Civ5 or stick with it until Civ7 releases next year?  One way you can decide which version you want to purchase is by looking at the differences between the two.

Civilization 6 is the newest version of this popular strategy video game. The changes that have been made to it are a cause for concern among many players who love Civilization 5. While there are some improvements, such as being able to select from different eras and civilizations at the start, there are also less desirable aspects of this new release. For example, cities can only be built on tiles that have been discovered by exploring or through trade routes with other empires. In addition, if you don’t explore your territory early enough in the game then your civilization will not grow and may even decline because you won’t find any resources! This means that players need to focus on exploration to succeed in Civilization 6.
